We at Cunningham Appliances love a good dishwasher. In our eyes the dishwasher is one of the most overlooked and underappreciated appliances in the home. For some people they don't have a reason to use a dishwasher, but for big families you might as well consider the dishwasher a part of your family dynamic. Why Use A Dishwasher?

If you're someone who has never used a dishwasher or is trying to get into owning one im sure theres a lot of questions. I mean why not just wash everything by hand? You may think it's easier, more efficent, and faster to wash dishes by hand but we at Cunningham Appliances believe the opposite. 

While it may seem like the dishwasher isn't doing much more than you already that's not entirely true. Dishes, or anything else you put in the dishwasher is subjected to hotter water, stronger pressure, and more consistent rinsing. When you wash something by hand, the best way to know if its clean is when you can't see anything on it anymore. The dishwasher is far more thourough then that and ensures your dishes are as clean as possible. 

Dishwashers are also extremely water efficent. In the modern world there is a lot of talk about energy and water efficency. Dishwashers consistently use far less water than the average hand washer and require less hot water coming into the unit since it uses less water in general, saving you on electricty. 

Of course speed is also a great question. Most of the time the units run somewhere between 60 minutes to a couple hours. While this could be seen as a long time to run, we've already established their efficency and most of the time when it's running you're off doing something else. The only work you really do in the end of the day is loading it, and then putting said dishes away.

Dishwasher Maintenance 

We at Cunningham Appliances like to imagine everyone is keeping their dishwasher in tip top shape and doing all the neccesary parts to keep it running. However we know for a fact that isn't quite the case and theres a lot of things people don't know. 

Two questions I always ask people when I enter their home for their dishwasher go in this order. Have you cleaned the filter, and do you run the dishwasher through a cleaning cycle. Some people forget that most dishwashers in the past 10 years come with some type of filter, and that it needs cleaned.  Manufacturers all have different amounts of time before they recommend you clean the filter. We however suggest you clean it after every few cycles.

Most people also have no idea that you should be cleaning your dishwasher. Some people have a hard time imagining that they need to clean their dishwasher, but we at Cunnigham Appliances hope you think of your dishwasher like anything else in your household. Most people clean their showers, sinks, and garbage cans(hopefully). Your dishwasher is nothing but those things combined, so make sure you run some cleaning pods through them or some vinegar.
