Refrigerator
When it comes to home appliances and their importance the Refrigerator has to be on the top of the list. It is really the staple of modern living and despite the multiple different designs they all do just about the same thing except for preference. Not to mention all of the features and options when it comes to buying one or maintaining it. Refrigerators have also had a bad reputation lately for their quality and longevity, so is it better to get that old fridge repaired by Cunningham Appliaces or is it better to just buy new?
REFRIGERATORS AND DESIGN
The art of refrigeration has been around for quite some time now. New modern units all sport some type of evaporation fan and condenser fan to optimally cool the interior and to stable temperature on the sealed system. Old refrigerators were nothing more than a compressor with multiple evaporator coils in the unit that you just set your food on. Refrigerators are far more efficent now but also come with a lot of options.
When it comes to purchasing a Refrigerator, you're presented with more options than ever. Whether it be a side-by-side, French door, bottom freezer, top freezer, and then all of the customization. We could talk all day about the differences between these but in the end it just comes down to preference. Features like icemakers, water filtration, air filtration, app control, interior cameras, and so on are now real and viable options for most consumers.
When it comes to icemakers there are now multiple different designs and variants. You can get an indoor icemaker, an icemaker that mounts to the ceiling of the unit for more space, a dual icemaker, a iceball maker, or just getting ice trays. There are a lot of possible options but in the end depending on manufacturing quality , it's really up to you on what you want.
QUALITY
Speaking of Quality, few machines have took such a bad wrap as refrigerators. From lawsuits to issues with the manufacturer, to just plain busted machines, the list goes on and on. Everyone seems to have the garage fridge that their grandpa owned that if it hasn't been serviced before, may never need it at all. Those nice interior refrigerators through seem to only last a few short years before catastrophe. If you get something brand new you better get the extended warranty. The bigger issue is, if it was a small problem that would be one thing, but most of these new models are having sealed system issues. These issues don't just get "fixed" that's typically a costly and long repair.
I recommend if you're someone who doesn't need a large fancy fridge and can deal with not having every feature ever made, going and finding either a simple designed fridge or getting what you've got assessed. At Cunningham Appliances we'll happily come look at that old fridge and do our best to get you back up and running.
